Sudd City Civies Start New Wiki

Sudd City - The writers of Sudd City have finally come together and decided to begin posting all things Sudd in their new Sudd City Civies Wiki site. The wiki has instantly become a success and will replace Sudd City Civies old geocities website built over 5 years ago. For the time being the blog will remain for news announcements and other possible releases.

"The wiki is the greatest thing to come to Sudd City since we introduced AIM icons a few years back," says the dude. "I am very excited to contribute to the new site and I'm proud to say I am the #2 contributer to the wiki (take that UltraRat!)."

Current content available on the wiki include updated character profiles and current progress on the scripts for the new Sudd City comic. Be sure to check us out!

Cool Places in Sudd City... that should or could exist... if they don't already.

Where else but Sudd City can you find a unique set of cleanly drawn and defined districts that fully embrace unique structures, cultures, and landmarks. While many of these cool places are known and have been canonized, many of these places are pure figments of The Dude's imagination waiting to be authorized by the Goddesses or ready to disappear back into the depths of limbo. This post will explore many of the cool places which The Dude has written about in storylines and plot bunnies. Be warned that not all of these cool places have actually been confirmed by the Sudd City Planning Commission.

Sudd Mansion [CONFIRMED]

The residing place for many of the series main characters (although only half of them actually live there - it's just HQ to some). From the Skittles Room to the ever popular dining room table where much of the of group meetings take place, Sudd Mansion is a reminder of Kaeldra's dedication to her family and what influence the Sudd's have on their city. Recently inhabited by Liu and Mulan, it is written that they share the same room (and bed *ahem*) even though they are not married. Their room itself isn't described much, but it is in the mansion and they do have a TV where they watch Disney movies at night. The Dude has written scenes with J and K on elaborate balconies, but it is unknown whether or not they ever stay in the mansion given their dual identities.

Peking Plaza - China Town [ASSUMED]

Here you can find Liu and his friends loitering around his uncle's restaurant. Half fast food/delivery, half sit down Chinese bistro, the restaurant has a duck for a mascot. The plaza itself is an outdoor mall with restaurants, specialty shops, and hosts a festive Chinese New Year's celebration each year. Peking Plaza is the area with the most Chinese influence, however there are other parts of Sudd City's China Town that houses other Asian cultural hubs.

Platinumerado High School [CONFIRMED]
Home of the Puffins, this is the only school mentioned in the Sudd City series. Liu and Mulan both attend the school originally as foreign exchange students (but that will probably all change see article below). Here Liu meets most of his friends including Carlos Tahubcapp. Liu is said to be an average student while Mulan is at the top of her class.

Uncle Otugo's House - Sudd City Suburbia [ASSUMED]
This is where Liu and Mulan lived in their early years in Sudd City. Close to Platinumerado High School, you will recognize the house by spotting Uncle Otugo's bright yellow Yugo which was passed on to Liu. Uncle Otugo lives with his wife and has three kids - the eldest moved out and enrolled in a college outside of Sudd City.

Sudd Gardens [MAYBE]
The Dude wrote an action scene which took place at Sudd Gardens, a 132-acre Amusement Park/Zoo/Botanical Garden. It was said to originally exist in Sudd City's Tourist District (but after confirmation that there is no tourism, this could be wrong). The park was split into themed realms: The English Realm which house a renaissance fair, the Celtic Realm with faeries and dragons, the Asian Realm with traditional and ancient representation of China and Japan, and other unnamed realms. Each realm had its collections of botanical gardens and various zoo animals had their special habitats. The Dude wrote of several unique attractions, but was most entertained by the ability to win giant panda plushies. This could also be the location where Jaeden receives his infamous cow plush. The park was said to be in the outskirts of the city.

The Purple Dragon Resort and Casino [PLAUSIBLE]
Guests at the Purple Dragon will be surprised that there are no guests. Kaeldra keeps a close eye on everyone who comes in and out of her city, therefore there is rarely a need to host weekend guests. While the existence of guest rooms may be out of the picture (although the dude once wrote about Kaeldra reserving an Asian Dragon Suite for Liu and Mulan's use), The Dude has described the Purple Dragon to be the location of may special events such as potential Mayor's Ball or any special occasion that Ms. Sudd requires. Kaeldra is said to have a special penthouse at the Purple Dragon where her and Jaeden manage Sudd City even when supposedly on vacations. It is a relaxing getaway for Sudd City residents to spend time on table games, relaxing a resort pools and spas. No confirmation on what district the Purple Dragon would be in. If confirmed, a name change could take place in order to avoid confusion with purple unicorns.

St. Palmolive's Cathedral [EXISTS... somewhere]
While multiple religious practices exist in Sudd City, St. Palmolive's plays host to a Christian religion in which Liu and Mulan practice. While The Dude does not write in details about the religion, the place itself is scene to cool stuff such as a fight scene which ends up destroying the front entrance when Liu and Kaeldra were unable to sweep all the badies to the AWD in time. A cast of priests and monks are open for development (for anyone with the urge to write about teleporting monks that used to belong to Munich Circus). For the time being, those who practice mass at the cathedral are known as Palmolivers.

Sudd City University - [PLAUSIBLE]
The idea for exploring Sudd City University came when The Dude wanted to write about Liu and Mulan's after High School experiences (they are college age about a year after Kaeldra's death). While most went away to college elsewhere and came back to the town, Liu was set to stay in town and continue his work for Kaeldra while using Sudd City as the base of his operations. Liu was required to live in the dorms his first year and resided in Kitty Hall (dedicated to an old mayor's relative???). It was a co-ed dorm and much hilarity ensued between other girls and Liu. Here Liu studied business and archeology. It is unknown as to whether or not Mulan went to SCU.

San Romeo - a city west of Sudd City [UNCONFIRMED]
The Dude briefly came back from hiatus to begin writing a plot bunny in which Liu and Mulan traveled to a city called San Romeo to search for artifacts after gaining a lead about a secret underground organization. The trip to San Romeo occurs after they graduate from Platinumerado High School and before Liu enrolls at Sudd City University. It is rumored that Liu's cousin lives in San Romeo. The city was much more urban than Sudd City with tall buildings similar to LA, Chicago, or New York.

The Dude to Change Origin of Mulan and Liu Sah

SOMEWHERE: THE DUDE'S SECRET HIDEOUT; NEAR IHOP - After 6 years of being foreign exchange students from China, the dude is expected to change the origin of his two main characters from being foreigners to being Asian Americans.

Some concern from the Sudd City camp explored how the change would affect the current storyline. "Wasn't being all foreign exchange student kinda important to their backstory?" questioned Goddess UltraRat. "I don't have a problem with it," she adds, "whatever makes the story good."

The Dude's reasons for the change is said to be related to the evolution of his characters and character identification. "It was fun at first playing with foreign characters and their interactions with the Americanized and often liberal Sudd City regulars. Even I would get a huge kick of cultural differences which untranslated made great comedy," says The Dude. "But I think many of those cultural differences such as how Asians and Americans deal with love, honorifics, responsibility, and open speech can still be preserved in Asian American culture."

"Liu's mannerisms will largely remain the same -formal, spacey, out of the loop, etc. I don't think that today's audience would relate to Liu as strongly if kept as a Chinese foreigner and I don't think I know enough about the experiences of Chinese exchange students to characterize Liu properly from here on out. The Asian American experience is something more familiar to me and I think the same issues Liu deals with as a foreigner will still translate with him as an Asian American."

When asked about the specifics of the changes, The Dude provided a number of viable storyline changes:
  • Liu Sah Chen will have his roots in a San Fransisco-like town in California. He will often visit his grandparents who live in a smaller town where he learns of his destiny as an artifact hunter.
  • Liu could face some further changes such as being Chinese/Vietnamese or some mix that would explore aspects of Asian culture.
  • Mulan will still be Liu's childhood crush and will be built with a stronger background and more defined ambitions. Her last name may be changed in the process as well.
  • Liu and Mulan will still make the move to Sudd City as teenagers. Liu will take his grandfather's job with Silver McFish and Mulan will still enroll at the DooLot Veterinarian Center internship program.
  • Liu will still live with his Uncle Otugo until hired by Kaeldra Sudd.
All these changes are expected to be made as The Dude revisits Liu Sah Adventures. With the revival of the Sudd City comic book concept, The Dude is considering revisiting many of his writings as well as new projects.

Sudd City Comic Book Concept Revived

SUDD CITY - An announcement was made last week by the Goddess Panda that the SCC's plan for a 4 issue comic based on the popular residents of Sudd City would be revived. The busy Goddess comments that she has completed all of her projects and can now spend time on the actual comic.

"Being able to finally see the characters of Sudd City in comic form will be amazing!" says the dude. "We've worked to build up concepts and characterizations for the residents of Sudd City and finally they will be able to appear in comic book form - far from its origins as storytelling on high school notebook paper."

The main storyline of the 4 issue comic will occur shortly after the resurrection of city heiress, Kaeldra Sudd. "I particularly wanted to settle the issue surrounding Kaeldra's death," commented Goddess Panda. "This comic will resolve some of the mystery concerning the characters during this time period as well as introduce new villains and our new protagonist Clarice McKnight."

A release date has not yet been confirmed.
